About

Upper Nar Gardeners (UNG) is an informal group of people interested in gardens and gardening. Most of us in the group live in the approximate region of the upper River Nar - hence the group's name - though some come from further afield. There is no formal membership and no membership fee. Events, such as gardening talks and garden visits, are organised at cost and announced via email.

The gardening club was formed around the time of the first Open Gardens in Mileham in 2011. We have held an Open Gardens event every few years since, the most recent being in July 2022 and the next is planned for 2025.

Over the years, we have enjoyed talks on diverse subjects including: plant hunters, propagation, ferns, saffron, bulbs, ghost ponds in Norfolk, and about various gardens. We have also visited several gardens including the Bishop’s Garden in Norwich before the pandemic, and more recently Severals Grange, Thorpland Hall and Natural Surroundings Wild Flower Centre.

Our aim is to provide interesting events that will be informative and entertaining, whatever your level of expertise may be.

Details of our visits and talks can be found on the News & Events page.
